THE OCM Skatepark Club in Camelford held its first official event to celebrate Halloween on Friday, November 2.

Hosting the first event as a Halloween party competition, the OCM Skatepark Club committee were pleased with the success of the evening, raising £100 towards the club funds and gaining even more members.

The competition was a huge success and the children have ‘come on massively’ since the skatepark’s opening in September, according to chairperson Ayla Ackroyd-Johnson. Even youngest member, Joey, entered the competition!

Ayla said: “A big thank you to Rob and Wendy Harrison for getting amazing prizes for the kids, to Sports Direct in St Austell for donating a kids’ skateboard and Vans in Truro for their small merchandise and sticker gifts. Another thank you goes to Sammie Buckley from Sammie’s Face Painting — the kids loved it and they all looked so amazing!

“We also owe a big thank you to John from Camelford Town Council, for helping to set up the gazebo and tables; our local Co-op in Camelford for their donation of Halloween sweets, chocolates and marshmallows for the kids — they went down a treat; and to all of the parents and guardians for bringing food. We ended up with a whole table’s worth!”

The club is now looking forward to the next event, which is in the planning stages, and hope to raise even more money for the club.
