THE first meeting of a friends group to support the work of The Long House in Holsworthy will be held on Tuesday, December 5.

North Devon Hospice’s outreach centre supports local people affected by cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, and the new friends group is a chance for the community to show their support for the cause while having fun and meeting new people.

Anyone interested in finding out more about the friends group is invited to the inaugural event at The Long House.

Jess Burford-Redgrove, from North Devon Hospice’s fundraising team, said: “We are really excited to start the ball rolling and see this friends group come to life. It’s a chance to meet new people and take part in fun activities, while making a real difference in your local community. We welcome everyone to come along on December 5, to our first event and just find out what it’s all about. There is no obligation to commit, just come and see what events and activities are on the horizon and decide if you’d like to be involved.”

It costs around £60,000 per year to provide care in the Holsworthy community and the hospice is reliant on the generosity of local people to make it possible. This is where the friends group will be vital.

The meeting will start at 11am at The Long House, with refreshments provided. It is asked that Jess is informed of how many people are hoping to attend for catering purposes, call her on 01271 347213 or email [email protected] to register an interest.
