FOR the first time in living memory and possibly the first ever occasion, choral evensong was held at the ancient church of St Julitta’s, Lanteglos by Camelford.

This took place at the end of the open day called ‘Snowdrop Saturday’ held at the church to celebrate the first sign of spring. In spite of more raindrops than snowdrops, £330 was raised towards the ongoing restoration of the building.

The Cotswold Recorder Group played in the background during the open day, which made for a wonderful atmosphere. Choral evensong was taken by Rev Andrew Lewis and followed on at the end of the day. It was sung by a mixed choir conducted by Gareth Stuberfield with Steve Tyrrell at the organ.

During the service, the Rev Hillary Spong made a presentation of 30 Books of Common Prayer to the churchwarden Mary Pearce, donated to the church by the Prayer Book Society.
