THE Launceston Voluntary First-Aid Service was on hand to spread the word about their work, as well as recruit new volunteers, at Launceston Show on Thursday.
The team were on the lookout for new volunteers, as well as making sure show-goers were safe and well throughout the day.
Speaking about the show, chairman Barry Gibson said: “It’s been very good so far. We’re promoting the group and we also need more volunteers. We’re currently turning work away as we don’t have enough people.”
The group offers FAW training to volunteers, and is a non-profit organisation providing first aid cover for events in the area.
Barry continued: “It (the show) keeps us busy! We’ve got a radio so they can shout for us if we are needed somewhere.
“We’re looking for absolutely anybody to join us, if they want to get some training in first aid. We provide a certificate for the work as well, which are nationally recognised.”
People interested in volunteering their time to the service should be over 18 years old, interested in first aid, able to drive and able to spare up to two hours a week. For further information, email [email protected]
