A BUDE venue that was hit by a kitchen fire has thanked the fire crews who helped put out the blaze.

Fire crews were called to The Barge, Bude in the afternoon of April 7 amid reports of a fire at a commercial premises.

Upon arrival at the location, on The Wharf in the town centre, fire crews came across a small kitchen fire which was extinguished using a fire extinguisher.

A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service at the time said: "Two pumping appliances from Bude Community Fire Station responded to this incident."On arrival, a small kitchen fire was discovered. Firefighters used a fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire."

However, the team at The Barge has confirmed it was their venue that was impacted by the fire, and as a result, they'd be operating a reduced menu for a while.

Thanking the 'heroes' who put out the fire, a spokesperson for The Barge said: "Unfortunately due to a kitchen fire yesterday we will be on a limited menu for a short while!

"A HUGE Thank you to Bude Fire Service for your very quick response! You’re an amazing team!

"Thank you for all your kind words and support"
