A NORTH Cornish community school could benefit from Cornwall Council's bid for funding from the Government's Priority Schools Building Programme. Cornwall Council has applied for funding to rebuild or refurbish six schools in Cornwall, including Budehaven Community School. Budehaven head teacher David Barton said that if funding was secured it would go towards the oldest part of the school, the science, DT and art block. Mr Barton said: "It would be a major refurbishment. The block is an original building from the 1960s. "I went to school in the '70s and the science labs look the same as they did then." The refurbishment would include a complete re-wiring and all mechanical works, which Mr Barton said would provide 'fantastic new labs'. He added: "To be honest, I'm not really holding my breath as it is so hard to get capital money in a time of austerity but we are delighted to be included as part of the six schools."
