On Monday, June 1 Launceston Seniors travelled to Holsworthy. Don Slee was contacted at short notice to fill in for a missing team member, he was not too disappointed as he was down for garden duties.

This was not the end of unplanned events as one of the Holsworthy team in the pair against Don had to retire with sunstroke but this did not prevent his partner succeeding in beating Don and Tim by 3 and 2 on his own. Despite this loss the Launceston team recorded a fine away win of 5 to 3 with Captain Robin and partner Colin achieving a resounding 7 to 6 victory to set the tone of the afternoon.

Results: Robin Johnson (cpt) and Colin Butler won 7&6; Brian Ben-David and Dave Bundy Halved; Derek Ratcliffe and Brian Alford Halved; Graham Nevitte and Peter Lyons won 2up; Gerald Cramp (v/cpt) and Peter Howard won 1up; Peter Fisher and Tony Bowden lost 1down; Tim Johnson and Don Slee lost 3&2; Peter Holland and Rodney Duke won 2&1.

The Seniors competition on Tuesday, June 2 was a full handicap qualifying medal played in three divisions. Very hot weather and as usual with medal rounds quite slow times were experienced. Members suggested more team events should be played but Captain Robin is keen to have regular qualifiers to regulate members handicaps. Sixty nine members took part and of the nine winners only two were over par and these by only one shot, surprisingly there were only 5 2's scored. Brian Ben- David recording the best gross score of 79.
