ST Petroc’s School, Bude has been supporting the Bude Cleaner Seas Project over the last 18-months — a national pilot project on behalf of the Environment Agency, which hopes to make Bude’s beaches and water the cleanest in Cornwall.

St Petroc’s children were heavily involved in a film made to raise awareness within the community about the impact of poor water in Bude. The film is due to be released online shortly.

Headmaster Dan Thornburn said: “We were absolutely delighted to be involved in such an important initiative that will have an impact locally and hopefully nationally too. The pupils were outstanding and have not only gained a real understanding of the importance of keeping our water clean but also an insight into how films are made.”

Dave Miller, Environment Agency said: “The children were very impressive and such naturals in front of the camera. We are now very much looking forward to the Bude Wave Conference, that will take place on September 15, which will highlight all aspects of pollution that affect our rivers and seas putting Bude on the global stage”
