BUDE & Stratton Branch of the Royal British Legion intend to create a Field of Remembrance on this the centenary year of the 1918 Armistice.

With the co-operation and involvement of Bude-Stratton Town Council, it will be situated in the Castle grounds clearly marked and easily accessible.

The villages of Marhamchurch and Kilkhampton are also involved.

Small wooden crosses will be available to be marked with the name of a loved one. Crosses will be available from the main Post Office and the Trading Post, both in Belle Vue.

The period of commemoration will be from October 27 until November 12. The crosses will be available for a suggested minimum donation of £2.

Should anyone wish to retain the cross after the event they should make it known to the supplier.

This is not just in remembrance of WWI but all conflicts to date. It also includes all armed and civil forces, organisations and associations, no one will be forgotten.

Marhamchurch field will be in the centre of the village, clearly marked and crosses will be available from the community shop.

Kilkhampton field will be inside the church lych-gate on the left, with crosses available from, Gilbert & Vanstone and Premier Express.
