THE recent Widemouth Village Fete was enjoyed by all, despite the uncertain weather changes.
The day started cloudy and organisers were unsure whether to go ahead or not, but best foot forward they put up the gazebos and set out the tables, ready for business at 2pm.
Cream teas were on offer with a cup of tea or coffee, or visitors could cool down with a very enjoyable ice cream. Each stall was supporting a different charity, and lots of fun was had by all.
The tombola stall was run by Judy, who raised just over £102 for St Francis Dog Rescue; the bric-a-brac was run by Hilda, who raised £100 for the Marhamchurch shop appeal; cream teas and cakes were provided by Margaret and Fiona, who raised £95 for the Cornwall Air Ambulance and the ice cream stall was run by Jann and Jan. Splat the rat was run by Carol and the craft table was run by Hazel, with £145 raised between three stalls for Macmillan Nurses.
A spokesperson said: “We would like to thank Mr David Stacey for making his field available to us again this year to use as a car park. We would also like to thank all our helpers and everyone that came and supported us on the day.”
