SUTCOMBE Community Primary School held a commemorative summer fete and high tea on Saturday, July 9.

They celebrated the life and work of Sutcombe School from 1877 to 2016, ahead of the school’s closure.

Proceeds from the day were in aid of Sutcombe Church Bell Tower fund.

Entertainment on the day included stalls, crazy golf, football, bouncy castle, face painting and a raffle.

Some key events of the school’s long history were remembered on the day, and old school ledger books were available for people to have a look at.

The Post has previously reported that Sutcombe Primary School will officially close from August 31, following a decision by Devon Council Council’s cabinet earlier this year, despite representation to the council by parents of pupils at the school who were against the school’s closure.

l On the last day of school, Tuesday, July 19, the pupils, staff and parents enjoyed a picnic lunch. Each child was given a leaving present by the PTFA, and each pupil then released a balloon with a message that each child had written about their school.
