DESPITE a blustery wet morning the St Breward Church Christmas fayre made a profit of £503.

A very generous donation to the church was also handed in, which was extremely generous of the donor and much needed to help keep the Church going in St Breward, bringing the total received to £603.

Carols played throughout, lights twinkling and tinsel all added to the festive theme, and not forgetting the vicar’s hilarious head-gear.

Yet again a fabulous Christmas cake, this year depicting the nativity scene, was raffled and, in addition, there was a basket of fruit to win together with a massive Christmas themed main raffle.

The Christmas stall was loaded with wreaths, decorations, potted hyacinths and gifts — something for all tastes. There was fun to be had with a carol/song competition, which had many puzzled trying to work out the titles.

The kitchen buzzed with cheerful chatter whilst mince pies and cake were enjoyed.

As ever, the popular cake stall was heaving with goodies and the bric-a-brac had some special and interesting items for sale.

For the children there was a splendid Santa’s sack full of goodies and for the adults a lucky dip.

Caroline Hooper, St Breward Parochial Church Council treasurer and events co-ordinator said after: “A big thank you to everyone involved whether helping, attending or donating.

“It was immensely rewarding and well worth all the effort many had put in. By the way, if you were one of those struggling with the carol/song competition, I failed dismally!”
