THE sale of wooden reindeers in 2017, created by the Cholwill family of Bridgerule, has raised a further £9,520 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).
This brings the total donated by the family to CHSW to £23,370.
A spokesperson for CHSW said: “We have just received a donation of £9,520 which was raised through the selling of the wooden reindeer made by the Cholwill family, which brings their running total of the amount raised so far over the past few years to an amazing £23,370.”
Each year the Cholwills create hand-made wooden reindeer and sell them in order to raise money for CHSW. This year they added wooden snowmen to their repertoire to help boost funds.
The money raised by the Cholwills will be used by CHSW to purchase specific items needed by the charities hospice Little Harbour, based in St Austell.
The family said: “[Little Harbour] is such a beautiful place and without your support in buying the reindeer’s and lots of other fundraising around the South West it would not be here. So thank you to all of you who have bought a reindeer or a snowman, we still can’t believe how much the demand grows each year and where they all go.
“Thanks again to Olly and Bonnie, all the scarf knitters and anyone that provided wood. Thank you also to Harper’s Farm Supplies for the donation of £200 from the sales of the ‘Chubby’ buckets during the month of December.”
