LAUNCESTON Community Christmas Lunch was ‘the most successful it has ever been’, serving up around 65 traditional Christmas lunches on December 25.
The Community Christmas Lunch was the most successful it has ever been, according to organiser Laura Higgins, with the success being down to the fantastic volunteers who helped prepare the hall at Launceston Central Methodist Church, make up the gift bags, lay the tables and prepare the vegetables.
The Central Methodist Church welcomed 65 guests on Christmas Day — guests who would have otherwise been on their own, people less fortunate and people who would have had nowhere to go.
Everything ran like clockwork. The hall and vegetables were prepped on Christmas Eve in two hours.
Laura said: “It definitely goes to show that many hands make light work!
“Without the help of so many businesses for their donations and the support of volunteers who gave up some or all of their Christmas to help with the event, it wouldn’t have been the enormous success it was.
“Thanks go to Philip Warren Butchers, Maunders, Veg in the Shed, Lifton Farm Shop, Ambrosia, Millerson, Launceston Day Centre, Tregida and Wilsey Down Pub. Huge thanks to Craig and his father for being the chauffeur to those unable to get to the venue and all volunteers and individual donations.
“A very special thanks to alittleboxofloveshop.com who provided us with 60 individual boxes to make our guests’ day even more special. For more information about the wonderful service they provide and to donate, please head to their website.”
