CAMELFORD WI held a festive cake sale at St Thomas of Canterbury Church recently.
The ladies of Camelford WI baked up a storm on Thursday, December 4, raising money for WI funds through the sale of their festive treats.
Alison Hoskin, WI member, said: “It went very well. It was the first time we had it in the church — we usually have it outside, but it was far too cold for that! It was lovely to have it in the church because people could sit down and have a chat.”
The cake sale raised in the region of £130 overall, and the WI hope to hold another event in the spring where they will fundraise towards the upkeep of the church.
They also hope to begin a separate fundraiser for the installation of a new WI bench.
Alison said: “We had a bench outside the Lanteglos Church, but it became too old so we will need to replace it. We will set up a separate fundraiser for that.”
She continued: “It was a really successful day — and we got a new member too, so that was wonderful!
“I would like to thank all the ladies who have baked cakes and the ladies who did the tombola, and also the church who let us use their facilities.”
