A CHRISTMAS breakfast in Camelford has received a donation — and edible goodies — via the efforts of students, parents/carers and staff at Sir James Smith’s Community School.

Food donations for the community event, held for senior citizens, young people and families who may be on their own on December 25, came from staff and parents/carers.

They were organised in school by receptionist and administrative staff member, Lesley Grills, with the resulting ‘hamper’ being handed to Julie Jeffs, one of the volunteers helping with the breakfast, which had been arranged by Helen Ward.

The retiring collection from the school’s carol concert was also donated to the Christmas breakfast, this total being topped up to £100, following a further donation from a staff member.

The carol concert was held in the school hall during the last week of term. The opening prayer, The Lord’s Prayer, was led by head girl Annalisa Jernqvist. Other students participating were head boy Callan Jago, who gave a Bible reading, with other readings by Sammy Emery, Maria Thorpe, Grace Connolly, Zoe Brooks, Martha Bradley, Freya Greaves and Head Teacher, Jon Lawrence.

Musical contributions came from students including Grace Connolly, Emma Davey, Annalisa Jernqvist, Nathan Buchanan, Tom Wiles, Jodie, Beth Beare, Katie May, Jamie Lou, Sarah Reynolds, Kate Glazzard, Livvy Ferguson, Ellie Thomas, Lucy Rush, Lauren Edwards, Eden, Maria Thorpe, Amber Smart, Jenna Moore, Damon Bell, Jas, Beccie, Holly Kalicki, Harry Crocker, Lucy Nicholls, Freya Martyn-Leeds, Maisie Miller, Becky Stocker, Isla Symons, Madie Ades, Bradley Clyde-Wiggins, Ella Parr and Ellie Thomas.

The programme featured prize-winning Christmas card designs from Year 7 pupils Meri Handley, Sam Hatch and Marisa Hunt.

The carol concert was organised by staff from the Performing Arts department.
