TREKNOW saw its biggest, brightest crowds yet with over 600 people gathering for the third Festival of Lanterns.

Saturday night was a fantastic clear evening and as dusk set in people from all over North Cornwall gathered with their lanterns for chestnuts and mulled wine in Treknow.

From homemade jam jars and pumpkins to more ornate Chinese lanterns — lights of all shapes and sizes were brought along to light the procession which set off at 6.15pm to walk through the village down to the Mill House Inn, Trebarwith.

Walls, hedges and window sills were lit by lanterns and pumpkins all the way along the route through the village.

"It was a magical evening with such a lovely atmosphere," said Karen Hart. "It was incredible to see so many people out with all their different lanterns and then walking down to the Mill together in the moonlight to watch the fireworks was brilliant."
