A COUPLE from Delabole were rescued by a local farmer after they were forced to spend the night in their car after taking a wrong turning onto a farm lane in the snow.
It is believed that the couple turned off the main road last Thursday evening into what they believed was an unclassified road.
They became stuck and were lost in the area at around 11pm. After failing to make their own way out of the area safely, the couple called the police at around 6am the following morning.
The man told police they had been at the location for some time and efforts to get the car out had failed. A friend of theirs in a 4x4 vehicle had also failed to locate them.
'A bit cold'
A search and rescue helicopter flew over the area involved, but the car and occupants were not seen, and the Cornwall Search and Rescue Team were also called in to assist with locating the couple.
Fortunately, Dan Risdon, a farmer from the Camelford area, spotted the couple on his travels.
Dan told the 'Post' that the couple had mistaken the farm lane turning for the Collans Cross turning and got stuck.
"They were a bit cold. I took them from where they were to the main road where they were picked up by the police."
The 31-year-old man and 18-year-old woman were treated by ambulance crews for mild hypothermia but they were not taken to hospital.
