The doors of Camelford's Natwest Bank branch closed for the final time last week, amid thanks to the staff and sadness from customers.
Fiona Stokes and Anne Cook have been the only staff in the Camelford branch since August 2014. They have worked there for more than 50 years between them.
The Camelford branch was opened by Dingley and Co in 1863 and was acquired by National Provincial and Union Bank of England in 1922.
The name was shortened to National Provincial Bank in 1924. In 1970 National Provincial Bank, Westminster Bank and District Bank merged and began to trade as National Westminster Bank.
Business owner Andy Bromfield of A R Bromfield and Sons recovery garage presented bank staff with flowers and chocolates on behalf of the community, to say thank you for their outstanding service.
The bank staff are well known for providing a friendly, caring, professional service and will be greatly missed by their customers. A crowd of well-wishers gathered to mark the closure of the branch and to wish the bank staff good luck for the future.
Fiona and Anne expressed their thanks and appreciation for those customers who kindly gave cards and gifts.
When the closure decision was announced last December it was met with criticism from some customers.
