THE 43rd annual ploughing match by Launceston and Callington Ploughing Association drew scores of people to Lawhitton on Sunday, October 7.

Held at The Barton by kind permission of the Perrys, association chairman Andrew Medland said: “It was an excellent day, we had fantastic weather and a big crowd of people — probably the biggest gate in the history of the association.”

The match champion was Mark Hammett, of Wadebridge.

There were four horse teams taking part, which Mr Medland said was particularly enjoyed by the general public.

He added: “I would like to thank all the committee members for their help. There was a lot of sponsorship from local businesses, which we really appreciate, and helped make the day a great success.”
