CAMELFORD Leisure Centre Manager, Richard Burke has praised the public's turnout on their recent open day, saying the turnout was "just fantastic." A significant number of people came to use the facilities on Wednesday, April 13 — an amount that Richard admitted was better than they had expected. "The support from those who came along was just fantastic. Over 500 people came to the centre throughout the day, and we managed to sell some memberships too." He said they were concentrating on reducing expenditure and raising income — then it was a case of "waiting to see what happens." The campaign to save the centre has picked up, he added, and the town council have been very supportive in all efforts to save the centre.
