THERE was a fantastic start to the Delabole Carnival week, which started on Saturday evening at the carnival marquee at the Delabole playing fields.
The carnival marquee was packed out as people gathered to see the UK’s number one tribute act, Vicky Jackson, as ‘Pink’. She had people dancing non-stop as she started the first part of her act as Amy Winehouse, and rounded off the evening with Pink.
On Sunday morning, a united church service was held, led by the Rev Bryan Ede and Rev Angela Cooper, along with the talented helpers performing sketches and readings, followed by a collection taking place at the end of the service for the Wadebridge Food Bank.
The crowning of this year’s royalty swiftly followed, which was performed by the outgoing royalty for 2016, Emily Carnon.
The afternoon proved to be very popular with lots of entertainment for the children, which included Starmakers Celebration Performance with Battle of the Bands, and then Adam Boon with circus skills entertainment.
The evening concluded with the ever popular Delabole quiz evening, organised by Sue and Phil Burnard.
Carnival secretary, Wendy Odd, said: “We have had a great start to the week and hopefully a lot more fun and entertainment with the Delabole community spirit at its best and hopefully good weather for the grand carnival procession on Saturday, July 15, starting at 7pm.”
