The famous fingerpost at Red Post an important local landmark known to hundreds of thousands of road users was recently resurrected after a lengthy repair process and the result was clearly worth the wait. The provision of a new sign would not have been possible without generous help from Launcells Parish Council who obtained a grant from Awards for All (part of the Big Lottery Fund); Tony Priest, who came up with the pattern for the missing arm; Oliver Jones of Cornwall Council who arranged the dismantling, repairs, painting and re-assembling of the sign; Bude and Stratton Town Councillor, Ian Saltern, of Stratneet Heritage Consultancy for valuable advice; Terrill Bros, from Hayle, who cast the new arm and the steady influence of Pam Brewer, Launcells Parish Council Clerk.
