A FAMILY ‘born and bred’ in Holsworthy are setting their sights high as they undertake a skydive in memory of a loved one.

Emma Baxter, Tori and Gary Buckingham will be taking to the sky to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society for Dementia Action Week in memory of their father/grandfather who sadly passed away recently after a five year battle with the illness. The team will also be holding a number of other fundraising events to help them reach their £1,290 target.

Emma said: “We are all from Holsworthy, all born and bred here including my grandad.

“We are doing this skydive as a family to raise money for such an amazing charity that is very close to our hearts after the recent passing of our grandad/dad Malcolm Buckingham who bravely fought the illness for the past five years.

“He was an absolutely amazing man and touched the hearts of many in the community and this is one small thing we can do in his memory.”

Ahead of their skydive the family has organised a number of fundraising events to boost their donation to the Alzheimer’s Society.

The first event will be a fundraising quiz night this Saturday, February 8, at Holsworthy Golf Club, 7pm for a 7.30pm start. There is a cost of £3 a head with a maximum of six players per team with a raffle included.

Emma expressed the family’s thanks to all those who have already donated and encouraged people to come along and have a good time whilst raising money for such a worthy cause. She added: “We have also got a coffee morning which we have arranged for Saturday, March 7, in the chapel room on Bodmin Street. For both events all funds raised will go to our sponsorship which is going to Alzheimer’s Society for Dementia Action Week.”

The coffee morning will run from 9.30m to noon on March 7 in Bodmin Street’s chapel schoolroom. There is a cost of £1 admission.
