PA22/09897: A farmhouse is set to be constructed at Ross Down Farm, Altarnun, Launceston after Cornwall Council’s planners gave the proposed scheme the green light.
The application was made by Mr M Coles and will see the construction of a two-storey, four-bedroomed house on the site, and will include a farm office and living spaces ‘of sufficient size for all-day and every day use’, according to the design and access statement accompanying the planning application.
Altarnun Parish Council supported the application, saying: “Altarnun parish Council supports this application. The design is simple and minimalist and sympathetic with the local character, whilst providing a local family with their own home.”
Cornwall Council gave planning permission for the development subject to a number of conditions.
One of these was: “The occupation of the dwelling shall be limited to a person or persons solely or mainly working, or last working, in the locality in agriculture as defined by section 336 (1) of the 1990 Town and Country Planning Act (as amended) or in forestry, or a widow or widower of such a person, and to any resident dependants.
“Reason: To ensure that the dwelling is kept available for meeting the need to accommodate an agricultural worker on a site where residential development would not normally be permitted and in accordance with the aims and intentions of Policy 7 of the Cornwall Local Plan Strategic Policies 2010-2030 (adopted November 2016).”
Other conditions include the removal of a caravan/mobile home on the site shall cease and removed from site within a month of the building being occupied, no alterations taking place without further planning permission, boundary treatments and the incorporation of bat and bird boxes as well as bee bricks.
