LAUNCESTON couple Phyllis and Eric Harvey recently celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary with close friends and family.

The couple met outside of Lloyds bank in Launceston on a Saturday night with three other couples, and played a game of eenie-meenie-minie-mo to determine their fates.

Eric and Phyl were married at Ladycross Chapel on a Monday, as it was wash-day, and then honeymooned in London. They went by train from Launceston Railway Station, travelling a slow journey to the city. When they arrived, everything was shut. The pair found a small café and had baked beans on toast.
