STAFF at a Holsworthy-based nursery will be running a half marathon, freefalling and playing football for 12-hours to raise money for a boy who has a terminal illness. Sixteen-month-old Dudley Wilson has recently been diagnosed with Leigh's Disease — a rare inherited degenerative neurometabolic disorder that affects the central nervous system. Dudley has had medical treatment to help him, but his condition is terminal. Since attending Thorne Manor day nursery and pre-school since February, Dudley has won over the hearts of staff, who said 'he is always very noticeable by his wonderful head of hair and smiles'. To help Dudley and his family make the most of his time, nursery staff are raising money by taking part in a variety of challenges. They will be kicking off the fundraising campaign by taking part in the Cardiff half marathon on Sunday, another member of staff will be freefalling thousands of feet during a skydive, and from 6am on Sunday, October 26 the nursery's early years practitioner Sid Badham has arranged a 12-hour football match at Holsworthy Community College.
