I AM writing to say how much I enjoy reading the article each week from Joe Munday. It's one of the first things I read.

He is a very imaginative young man with a way with words and there have been very few times (if any) when I haven't agreed with him. I shall follow his career with interest and fully expect to see him reach the top in journalism.

Whilst writing, I was also interested to read the letter from Trixie Penfound (the 'Post', May 14). She is the same age as me and I believe I knew her as a child. Like her, I remember my mother rushing me over to the lock gates when a ship was due in, especially the Traly.

Things are not the same now but, sadly, that is change and not always for the better. I can well remember the trains crossing the road to get supplies from the Wharf, as can my children when on holiday. What excitement!
