It's been a busy few weeks at Marros Riding Centre!

First, there was carriage driving on Saturday, May 30, with some members of the British Driving Society, Area 36, and their horses. The day gave people the opportunity to help harness and prepare the horses as well as have a go with the reins whilst going for a journey around the yard.

A selection of our Pony Club members earned their carriage driving badges by taking part.

The following weekend saw the Show for our Pony Club junior members. Our junior members range from ages three to seven-years-old and take part in an activity morning or afternoon once a month.

In the morning, the members prepared their horses by plaiting and grooming them as well as cleaning their tack in the morning. The children then took part in their show with Best Rider Class and gymkhana games. It was a wonderful morning, with lots of smiles and great support from family and friends of the members.

The weekend of June 13 and 14 was the show for the Senior Pony Club members with an age range of eight to 20-years-old. The Saturday was preparation day where we washed the ponies' tails and legs, plaited their manes and made them look their best for the show.

The Sunday was show day! The sun even made an appearance for us! We had 20 members competing in three different groups in Best Rider Classes and gymkhana races of bending, bucket and ball and walk, trot, canter. We also had a clear round jumping course set up. Our winners of the best rider classes were Lauren Sexton, Toni Spiller and Cody Bridegman, but all of the riders rode really well and all deserved the first rosette and trophy!

The children brought over 100 family and friends to watch them take part and cheer them on which creates such a great atmosphere and really encourages the children. The riders and their horses worked really hard and did us proud! There was a rainbow of different rosette colours the children earned.

Hazel and staff would like to express their thanks to everyone who took part and for all the support they had from family and friends. It made all the events have a fun, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It was wonderful to be part of.
