A JUMBLE sale, held in aid of a rheumatoid arthritis charity, at St Thomas Church Hall was a great success, with the organisers and volunteers raising around £70 for the cause.

Helen McGuinnes, who organised the event, said: “It went really well, I didn’t expect that many people to come along, but we raised just under £70, which is good for a jumble sale.”

The organisers collected donations from different sources, with lots of different items being donated to the event.

Helen, who paid for the church hall out of her own pocket, wanted to illustrate how rheumatoid arthritis is not just something that older people suffer from.

“A few of my friends suffer from the condition,” she said. “Everyone seems to think it is something that just elderly people get, but it’s not. My nieces and a few of my friends are in their twenties, and they have the condition.”

The volunteers were made up of Helen’s friends and family.
