CALLS for superfast broadband to be installed on Holsworthy Industrial Estate have been made after it arrived in the town earlier this year. The £94-million superfast broadband scheme, co-coordinated by Connecting Devon and Somerset, went live in parts of Holsworthy last November/ December. Now, Holsworthy Town Councillor Martin Prentice is calling for improved connection speeds to be installed on the Dobles Lane industrial estate, which boasts more than 50 businesses. He said:?"It should be made available to help businesses move forward and I was amazed to find the industrial estate has no superfast broadband, but it is at the agribusiness centre where there are no businesses yet. "I can get it at home, but it has not been made available to more than 50 businesses." Connecting Devon and Somerset aims to make broadband speeds of 24Mbps and above available to around 95% of homes and businesses by the end of 2017. Cllr Prentice said broadband would not be available on the estate for at least another year. For the full report, and a round-up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
