A VOLUNTEER from Bude has helped give disadvantaged children the experience of a lifetime. Emma Woodhouse, 33, joined the charity Chicks on a week-long respite break for children. She travelled to the charity's retreat at Brentor, where she stayed with a group of 15 children and a small team of volunteers and charity staff. For many of the children, Chicks is the first 'holiday' they have known and they are able to experience new activities such as riding a horse and visiting the seaside. Emma said: "It was a very rewarding week which I would highly recommend anyone to do. "My favourite memory was when we all walked to the top of Brent Tor. It was so peaceful and the kids loved it. They just sat quietly looking at the view, obviously reflecting on the week." For the full report, and a round up of the latest area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
