THE Bude and Holsworthy emergency medicine training group, North Coast Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine (NC-PHEM), was busy on Saturday, June 10, organising a day of extreme situational training for local emergency colleagues.

Paramedics and BASICS doctors had a day at the Cornwall Air Ambulance airbase going through a series of ‘immersive’ experiences in a virtual studio and a simulated car crash.

Dr Angus Macdonald, local BASICS doctor and NC-PHEM member, said: “We are immensely grateful to both MDT Global Solutions for providing the training equipment and Cornwall Air Ambulance for use of their hangar.

“The lifesaving skills needed by emergency doctors and paramedics are very complex. NC-PHEM is here to support training for these professionals.”

Charlotte Hicks, paramedic and secretary to NC-PHEM, added: “This was a great day — we are proud to be able to support our emergency colleagues in the community as it can make the difference in life or death.”
