EMERGENCY services made an unexpected visit to a Holsworthy housing estate to highlight the danger of cars being parked on the sides of the roads, last week.

Holsworthy Police teamed up the town's Retained Fire Crew on Wednesday, March 28, who escorted the fire pump through Croft Road and Glebelands, where cars had parked on both sides of the junction.

PCSO Emma Tomkies from Holsworthy Police said: "We have had issues raised in the area with regards to the double sided parking and felt that it needed addressing.

"The pump was taken through without causing damage to vehicles this time, but had to slow down immensely — in a case of an actual emergency, these seconds could be the difference between life and death."
