THE Holsworthy and District Lions Community Shield award for 2015 has been presented to Eliza Daniel after she did a parachute jump in aid of the Children’s Hospice South West.
The mission statement for Lions International is, ‘To empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs’.
Holsworthy and District Lions recently got together with Holsworthy Community College to initiate an annual award for a student who has embodied the ideals of the Lions movement and has done something extraordinary in the service of the local community.
The award for 2015 was presented at the college on November 26, 2015 by club president Brian Withall to Eliza Daniel, who raised £1,200 for Children’s Hospice South West with her sponsored parachute jump.
