IN RESPONSE to the article on the Launceston Today website last week in which Cornwall Councillor for Launceston, Alex Folkes urged Elan Homes to speed up the completion of the Kensey Valley Meadow development, the firm has said it is "committed" to completing the site.

Cllr Folkes recently met with council officers to try to speed up the adoption of the area and the provision of the play are.

Rob Flood, managing director of Elan Homes, said the firm was committed to completing the development and the infrastructure works at Kensey Valley in Launceston for both existing and future residents.

He explained: "The roads linked with the upper site and main entrance were constructed by previous owners Sharman Homes and David Mclean Homes and are not associated with the third phase, which is currently under development. However, to ensure that these works are completed, Elan Homes has voluntarily committed itself to adopting these roads and we have instructed our solicitors to agree with the council to transfer the agreement across to Elan Homes."

He added: "Health and safety is regarded to be of paramount importance to the company and as such, Elan Homes has ensured that the uncompleted development is fenced off and that the site is inspected regularly by our health and safety manager. In addition, we have completed the cutting back of the overgrowth following our conversations with the council; this also included the repair of a bollard outside the Elan Homes site at the request of the council.

"In response to the play area provision, under Elan Homes planning consent, there is not a requirement for a play area. Elan Homes has however provided an open space and landscaping as part of the signed section 106 agreement."
