SHIRLEY Morse is not one to blow her own horn — unless it's for Callington Town Band — so the New Outlook Social Club decided to spring a surprise tribute on her at its weekly meeting at Callington Cricket Club recently.
"Shirley is a remarkable person," said Margaret Taylor, who set up the surprise. "She has been chairman of Callington New Outlook for 17 years.
"She has always been enthusiastic and comes up with lots of different ideas regarding the weekly speakers and outings. She has been known to write small pantomimes — usually in rhyme — at our Christmas party and there is always a 'Guess the name' game with photos cut out from magazines pinned to the wall."
