LIFTON Primary School held its annual duck race and fun day at the recreation field in the village on Saturday, July 6.

Hundreds of villagers and schoolchildren flocked to the field on a baking hot summer’s day to show their support to the school. There were a range of stalls on the day, offering cream teas, a barbecue and ice-cold drinks, glitter tattoos and face painting. There was also an ice cream van, a car boot sale, a bouncy castle and handmade flower headbands on sale throughout the afternoon.

Headteacher, Melanie Cripps, who was busy painting colourful glitter tattoos onto visitors with teacher Katie Russell, said of the event: “It was a great day with a fantastic community atmosphere. Everyone had a lovely time and enjoyed the refreshments, including a barbecue, ice cream and homemade cakes and biscuits.

“There were lots of stalls including those run by the children and staff. Well done to the Friends of Lifton School for all their hard work and for organising the event. The duck race was a great success and has raised money for the extra things that all the children benefit from at Lifton school.”
