PUPILS at South Petherwin Primary School found out more about Launceston Memory Cafe recently.
Cym Downing of the Memory Cafe was contacted by Jo Wills, classteacher, who explained that the children were learning about different charities and Class 4 chose the Memory Cafe.
Cym and Janet Kindon visited one morning and gave a talk to the children about what the cafe is and how it helps people.
Cym said: “The children were extremely responsive and asked lots of questions. The questions were brilliant, I was really surprised. They were all really engaged, and we presented them with a pen and a badge.”
In the afternoon, Cym took two ladies and two gentlemen who use the Memory Cafe, along with their carers, into the school and they played board games.
The school provided everyone with a high tea and they were also greeted by Buddy, the school’s King Charles Cavalier.
The pupils also entertained the Memory Cafe clients with songs they had been practising for the St Piran’s Day parade.
Cym said: “It was a lovely afternoon. They had a lovely time and they really joined in with the children. It’s good for the children to see people that are not quite as able.”
