STUDENTS and staff at Callington Community College have been rewarded for all their hard work, dedication and commitment over the past two years by securing excellent A level and Level 3 results.

This year’s cohort of students has once again performed superbly, and for many of the students it is a fitting end to their time at the college. They will now look forward with excitement in pursuing the next step of their young lives.

All students who have applied to Higher Education are in the process of accepting their chosen institution and course. Students successfully completed their qualifications with the vast majority achieving a grade A*-C.

Students entered for Level 3 vocational qualifications all passed their qualifications with over 80% of grades being awarded a Distinction* or Distinction.

Congratulations must go to all students in recognising their many achievements both inside and outside of the classroom. The students have embraced every aspect of Sixth Form life and have been superb role models to the younger students and the wider community.

Many students have successfully completed additional qualifications such as Level 3 EPQ, Level 3 Core Mathematics, Higher Sports Leaders Award (HSLA) and First Aid in addition to giving up their time to help run college clubs, support younger students, volunteer within the community, support curriculum areas as well as being involved in college productions, music shows, sporting events, work placements and enrichment week.

A special mention must be given to the ‘Student of the Year’ Georgia Walters, who achieved D*D*D* in her Health and Social Care qualification as well as achieving a B grade in psychology and an A* in her EPQ.

Georgia will now attend her first choice university, Cardiff to study midwifery. Tristan Pyzer, Luke Sambells, James Paxman, Alfred Hawkins, Harvey James, Harry Tredinnick and William Tucker achieved all A and B across all their A Level subjects.

Vocational qualifications continue to be a real strength within the college, with 100% pass rate with the vast majority of students achieving the top grades of Distinction* and Distinction. A special mention to Becca Higgins, who achieved D*D*D* in sport and physical activity, Elowen Fleming, Daisy Hunn and Holly Willoughby achieved DDD in health and social care and Luke Bunkum who achieved a D*D in music.

The majority of students will travel the width and breadth of the country over the coming months to continue their studies at university.

Other students have also been successful in securing higher level apprenticeships, employment and traineeships with local and regional companies.
