THE new members of Friends of Holsworthy C of E Primary School (FoHPS) have been working hard fundraising for the school and organising a range of events which is also bringing the Holsworthy community together.
Headteacher Tim Salvadori is very grateful for the impact the newly formed FoHPS have made since forming in September. He said: “I met with two of our parents, Tracey Webster and Angela Scarsbrook, at the beginning of term to discuss their plans for supporting our school and they really impressed with their vision for the FoHPS.
“In very little time they have galvanised parent support and shown tremendous drive and organisation in their approach. I am extremely grateful to Tracey, Angela and the rest of their team for all of their ambition, hard work and commitment. They are currently working on introducing a pupils’ FoHPS group!”
Chair of FoHPS Tracey Webster said: “At the end of the last school year, we volunteered to step into the lead roles within the Friends of Holsworthy Primary School and we haven’t stopped since.
“We have a vision to get the children and the FoHPS into the community more. It was really important to us to model community values to the children, as well as asking our wonderful community to help raise money to enhance the learning opportunities for the children.”
Vice-chair Angela Scarsbrook added: “We have some ambitious projects we would like to fulfil, including replacing and updating learning pads and other IT equipment, improving the outdoor facilities in the playground and installing a bus shelter for the children, who often wait in poor weather conditions for the buses to arrive. We now have a fantastic group of volunteers to help us with events such as our upcoming Christmas Craft Fayre on December 15 in the Memorial Hall (between 1pm and 4pm).
“We have also been overwhelmed with the generosity of local businesses for their donations and sponsorship for this event too. If any business can support us in any way then we would love to hear from them.”
