THE Cornwall Music Education Hub held its second music festival for schools at the Royal Cornwall Showground on June 24 and 25.

Over the two days, 700 children from schools and home educated groups across central and north Cornwall came together to take part in workshops, exploring musical styles from around the world.

The children took part in a range of music and dance workshops: African drumming and dance with Kakasitsi, Japanese Taiko drumming, Indonesian Gamelan and dance, Bhangra Indian music and dance plus the children had the opportunity to try out beatboxing and street dance as well as early years music with colourful characters.

Schools attending included Beacon, Boscastle, Bugle, Lostwithiel, Newquay Junior, Otterham, Port Isaac, St Breock, St Breward, St Issey, St Mabyn, St Stephen Churchtown, Tregadillett, Wadebridge and Warbstow.

The Cornwall Music Education Hub is a partnership of music and arts organisations, led by Cornwall Council and is funded by Arts Council England to support and promote high quality music education.
