THE pupils at Bradford Primary School are delighted to announce the arrival of a fantastic new ‘Clamber Stack’, which was built within less than 48 hours.
The new equipment was built by T K Play Equipment, who also installed an all-year-round ground surface, which leads directly from the tarmac area.
Caroline Hawking, treasurer of the Friends of Bradford School (FOBS), who co-ordinated the grants, said: “The primary school desperately needed new equipment since the removal of the old wooden frames last summer, so FOBS made every effort to fundraise by holding a Christmas raffle, Easter bingo, coffee morning and various small fundraising events to be able to support by donating £2,000.”
Further funding was received following an application to The Balsdon Trust who donated £2,000, along with Launceston Round Table donating £300, Holsworthy Lions £100, and Waitrose Green Tokens raising £135 which totalled £4,535, with the primary school funding the rest.
Caroline added: “On behalf of FOBS I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to our donators, as without this support we would not have been able to provide such great facilities. The original project was unfortunately downsized due to some unsuccessful grants, but we are still very pleased with the outcome. All the children are absolutely thrilled with it, and it will be enjoyed for many years to come.”
Comments from the children included: “I love climbing and playing together with my friends”, “It is great exercise and I love being outside”, “Everyone at sports day from other schools were jealous”, “I love swinging and hanging from the ropes”, “It makes me feel good and full of energy”, “I really, really love it”.
Lia Freeburn, clerk for The Balsdon Trust, said: “It has been a great pleasure to contribute towards the new clamber stack which was recently installed at Bradford Primary School.”
Damian Heard, branch manager at Waitrose Holsworthy, said: “We are really keen to ensure we continue to play our part in the community and support those causes that matter most to local people, and we delighted to hear the children are thoroughly enjoying the outdoor exercise area.”
Miss Paton, executive head teacher of Bradford, Black Torrington and Bridgerule Primary School, said: “We are very grateful to FOBS for their tireless fundraising and all those who have contributed money during the various events, the children’s playtimes have been truly transformed.”
