Young people took part in a conference on Friday to debate proposals to reorganise secondary and Welsh-medium education in Pembrokeshire.

Each secondary school was invited to send four members of their school council to participate in the event in Narberth.

The young people discussed the council's education proposals, which are currently the subject of a six-week public consultation.

They debated proposals on changes to sixth form, the merger of Sir Thomas Picton and Tasker Milward schools, additional learning needs, and Welsh medium education.

The event was hosted by the Pembrokeshire's Children and Young People's Rights Office.

Clr. Sue Perkins, cabinet member for education, said pupils engaged very well with the process.

"We're always delighted to hear the views of young people."

The deadline for the consultation is Tuesday, May 5.

Members of the public can take part by filling in an online response form on the county council's website at http://www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/haveyoursay">www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/haveyoursay
