PRIMARY school children across Cornwall are learning more about road safety from Cornwall Council's road safety through the Second Steps roadside training.

Second Steps is a practical child pedestrian training scheme which takes place at real roadside locations where specially trained instructors teach children to discover and develop safe pedestrian strategies through interaction and discussion.

The children, aged five to seven, who take part in the training learn three key skills:

• Choosing safe places and routes to cross the road;

• Crossing safely between parked cars;

• Crossing safely at junctions.
