CAMELFORD celebrated Easter in style at the weekend, with numerous events attracting residents, young and old, to the town centre.
Camelford Town Council’s events committee held their popular annual Easter bonnet and egg decorating competition in the library, both of which received a huge turnout from local families.
There were nine entries for the egg competition and seven beautifully decorated bonnets. Local lady Diane Taylor was judge for the morning, and had a particularly tricky job in trying to choose the winners.
However, three very worthy winners were eventually chosen for each competition, with Diane presenting an Easter egg to each winner.
Winners of the bonnet competition were: 1, Lola Donnelly; 2, Libby Ford; 3, Elysia Yates. Winners of the decorated egg competition were: 1, Jenson Smith; 2, Luella Haywood; 3, James Lessels-Edwards.
In addition to this, there was also an Easter egg hunt around Enfield Park, to which 40 families took part and were able to enjoy the beautiful spring sunshine.
Camelford events committee chairperson, Kirsty Ferguson, said: “The egg hunt allowed a beautiful walk around the park! A great day was had by all.”
Judge, Diane Taylor, was not only impressed with the high quality entries for the competition, but also the behaviour of the young children. She said: “The first thing I was impressed with was how well attended it was, and how polite and enthusiastic the children were. Every child looked so pleased to be involved. They were very polite when I handed them an egg, and they stood there very patiently with me as people took photographs. All the parents were lovely and it was a pleasure to do.
“There was a good range of entries and it was very difficult for me to choose the winners. The sun was shining, the library was full and it was a really nice thing to be involved in.”
