The team at Churchtown Cafe in St Teath spread some Easter cheer and raised more than £1,000 for the NHS through the sale of goody boxes.

The idea was first mooted on the Churchtown Facebook page, where owner Kerri Kitto asked if anyone would like a little box of Churchtown goodies in return for a small donation to the NHS.

Almost 100 people got in touch and donations made have reached £1,100.

The team got to work cooking up the batches of delicious treats and Frankie Smale was also busy creating leaflets to go inside the boxes.

Kerri and her mum Tracey set off at around 5.30am on Easter Sunday, and all deliveries — to households in Delabole, St Teath and Camelford — were made by 8.30am.

Treats included a scone with jam and cream, chocolate brownie, tiffin, hummingbird cake and Biscoff muffin.

Kerri was delighted with the response. She said: “I thought we would do about a dozen or 15 boxes but we were completely amazed.”

Churchtown Cafe hope to do the same during the next Bank Holiday weekend .
