A CHARITY, which helps those experiencing crisis in Cornwall, will be able to spread a little Easter cheer, thanks to a generous donation by Taylor Wimpey.
The housebuilder, which is building new homes across Cornwall and Devon, including its Gwel An Hay site in Launceston, has been collecting Easter eggs to give to Wadebridge foodbank.
Last year, the foobank fed 3,206 people in crisis and provided an average of 1,625 meals per week. Since opening their doors in 2009, they have fed over 17,000 people.
Their foodbanks in Wadebridge, Bodmin and Camelford are run by a team of dedicated volunteers. The foodbank provides three days’ worth of nutritionally balanced emergency food in exchange for a red voucher to local people in crisis, who are referred by a professional organisation.
It is all part of Taylor Wimpey’s ‘Eggstravaganza’ campaign, which will see Easter eggs donated to homeless shelters and foodbanks across the UK.
Jacqui White, project manager at Wadebridge Foodbank, said: “We are very grateful to Taylor Wimpey for this kind donation. It’s great to be able to provide Easter eggs for those using our service and we think they’ll really appreciate this gesture.”
Clare Brimble, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey, said: “As a considerate, responsible housebuilder, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we build our new homes.
“Wadebridge Foodbank does such a vital job within the local area and we are really pleased to be able to support it.
“Poverty can mean that people become very isolated, and we hope our Easter gift will help to make everyone in the community, whatever their circumstances, feel included in the Easter festivities.”
