CONTRACTS have been exchanged on the Eagle House, in Launceston, which could eventually revert back to being a hotel.
Eagle House had been listed for sale through Knight Frank for offers over £675,000, and William and Rebecca Perry of Lawhitton said contracts were exchanged on Christmas Eve.
Mrs Perry said they complete mid January.
The property is described by the estate agent as ‘one of the prettiest Georgian houses in the South West’, and planning permission was recently given to change its use to residential.
In November, Mr and Mrs Perry sought pre-application advice from Cornwall Council on potentially changing the use of Eagle House back into a hotel.
Cornwall Council’s principal development officer, Davina Pritchard, said in her opinion ‘there would be no objection in principle to the proposed reversion of the property back into a hotel’.
She added: “The planning history for the site and the officer report for the 2015 permission for the change of use of the building from a hotel to a single dwelling confirmed that the recommendation to approve the application was a very balanced decision.
“It is likely the proposed reversion of the building back to a single dwelling would be welcomed by those members of the local community who objected to the 2015 application.”
