HOLSWORTHY and District Lions Club held its annual duck race at Bridgerule Carnival last month. One-thousand yellow, plastic ducks battled their way down a sectioned-off course on the River Tamar in order to claim the first prize of a new mountain bike for the lucky winner. The second and third prizes of a £30 voucher for the Bickford Arms, and a family ticket for the Milky Way were both donated to the Lions by the local businesses. More than £850 was raised by the Lions which will be given away to local charities and used to help fund the club's disabled fun day in November. THE first prize of the mountain bike was presented to Stuart Slee by Lions Club president Richard Hutchings, below with fellow Lions Club members Brian Withall and Ted Flaherty
